Naza Group is known as an automobile distributor and real estate developer, which began operations in 1975. Naza Group is lead by SM Nasimuddin SM Amin, who is also the founder of this group. Naza Group is also a franchisee of Kia, a South Korean car manufacturer, for the Malaysian market. Naza manufactues the Naza Ria and the Naza Citra, based on the Kia Carnival and Kia Carens. 
Naza Group also manufactures the Naza Sutera (based on the Hafei Loba model), which was launched in April 2006 and the Naza Bestari (based on the Peugeot 206 model) in May 2006.

The Malaysian oil corporation was established on the 17th of August 1974 and given the name Petronas. On the 1st of October 1974, with the passing of the Petrolem Development Act, Petronas was given the rights, powers, freedom and privilege to coordinate and develop the petroleum resources of Malaysia. The individual responsible for the founding of Petronas is Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. Before 1874, petroleum operations in Malaysia was conducted by multinational oil companies through a concession system to explore and drill petroleum at the coast of Sarawak, Sabah and Terengganu. The establishment of the national oil company became the starting point of a more substantial national involvement in the petroleum industry.
